Nintendo, known for its reticent approach to technical disclosures, has taken a bold step forward with the impending release of the Nintendo Switch 2. In an uncharacteristic move, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has pulled back the curtain on the device’s hardware marvels, sharing details about the “three major innovations of the new chip“.
According to Nvidia: “A Technical Marvel”
Huang’s commentary, shared in a YouTube announcement, highlights the Switch 2’s processor as a pioneering achievement, describing it as “the most unique chip we’ve ever engineered“. This bespoke platform, crafted exclusively for the Switch 2, integrates three groundbreaking features that are set to revolutionize mobile gaming. Although familiar to PC gamers, these features are unprecedented in portable devices.
Firstly, the device boasts full hardware ray tracing and HDR support, promising an immersive visual experience with brighter highlights and deeper shadows. Secondly, the introduction of dedicated AI-powered cores that enhance game details in real-time, refine animations, and generally uplift the visual output is noteworthy. The third innovation emphasizes ultra-low power consumption, optimizing performance for handheld use, thus ensuring extended battery life and minimized heat production.
For context, the Tegra T239’s performance was previously rumored to potentially rival the GTX 1050 Ti. The integration of advanced technologies, including DLSS, ensures that this performance transcends mere numerical comparisons.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to debut in Turkey on June 13, with pre-orders starting on June 12. Priced at 36,999 TL, the Switch 2 positions itself as a premium offering in the Turkish market. Additionally, the Mario Kart World Bundle is expected to retail at 39,999 TL.
