The 18A-PT process is a refined version of the standard 18A, optimized for these complex designs.
Foveros Direct: Pioneering Chip Packaging Technology
Integrated with this new manufacturing process is Intel’s advanced hybrid packaging technology, known as Foveros Direct. This cutting-edge solution is set to become one of the densest on-chip interconnect systems available, featuring a sub-5 micron interconnect pitch. To put this achievement into perspective, TSMC’s SoIC-X architecture currently operates at a 9 micron pitch, giving Intel a significant edge in creating more compact and higher bandwidth chip solutions.
Initial Implementation and Future Prospects
Intel plans to first deploy this innovative architecture in the server sector.
