Ecclesiastical Insurance Strengthens National Crisis Support

Ecclesiastical Insurance has officially partnered with the National Emergencies Trust (NET) by joining the Appeal Partners Programme. This collaboration aims to enhance the delivery of prompt and effective aid to individuals affected by national crises. The alliance brings together entities committed to aiding communities during emergencies.

As an Appeal Partner, Ecclesiastical will contribute its specialist risk management expertise to ensure the Trust’s nationwide fundraising efforts have a significant impact. Known for supporting communities through both insurance services and charitable initiatives under the Benefact Group, Ecclesiastical is set to play a pivotal role in mobilising resources and expertise when disasters strike. Their enterprise risk management team will support organisations in identifying and mitigating strategic risks, thereby boosting resilience during times of crisis.

According to Mhairi Sharp, CEO of the National Emergencies Trust, “Cross-society collaboration is crucial during emergencies. It prevents duplication of efforts, ensures resources are used effectively, and most importantly, guarantees that those affected receive the best possible care.” She further expressed, “The Appeal Partners Programme is designed to facilitate such collaboration. We are thrilled to welcome Ecclesiastical as our newest member. Their networks and specialist expertise will make a significant impact when it is most needed.”

Sarah Pearson, head of enterprise risk at Ecclesiastical, highlighted the significance of this partnership: “This collaboration underscores our mutual commitment to supporting communities during times of urgent need. While we hope emergencies do not occur, we are prepared to contribute significantly when they do. By providing our risk management expertise to the National Emergencies Trust, we can help enhance the resilience of communities across the UK.”

This partnership emerges at a time when the UK’s emergency services face notable challenges. Police forces in England have reported an average response time of five and a half hours for priority calls, which require urgent attention but do not pose an immediate risk to life. Gloucestershire Police recorded the most significant delays, with an average response time of 18.5 hours for such calls. Fire services have also experienced increased response times, with the national average reaching nine minutes and 12 seconds—the highest in a decade.

The National Emergencies Trust’s Appeal Partners Programme unites trusted organisations to ensure aid reaches those in need efficiently and effectively during times of crisis.
