Breaking new ground in the foldable phone market, Vivo is preparing to launch the X Fold 5, the successor to its X Fold 3 series that debuted in April last year. Notably, Vivo has skipped the number ‘4’ in its series naming, adhering to cultural superstitions in China where the number is considered unlucky.
According to the latest leaks, the X Fold 5 is set to feature a 6.53-inch LTPO OLED display externally, complemented by an expansive 8.03-inch AMOLED panel boasting 2K resolution internally. Both displays will deliver a smooth user experience with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
At its core, the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, supported by an impressive 16 GB of RAM and storage options reaching up to 512 GB. The device is also expected to excel in photography with a triple-camera system on the back, featuring a primary 50 MP Sony IMX921 sensor and a 3x optical zoom Sony IMX882 telephoto lens. For selfies, users will enjoy 32 MP front cameras on both the internal and external screens.
One of the standout features of the X Fold 5 is its massive 6000 mAh battery, positioning it as potentially the foldable phone with the largest battery capacity on the market. Despite this, the phone maintains a sleek design with a body thickness of just 4.3 mm when opened.
The device is further equipped with 90W wired charging and 30W wireless charging capabilities. Additional highlights include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a versatile three-stage notification switch, and a durable, IP-certified body.
While rumors suggest that there won’t be a Pro model this year, Vivo appears to be channeling its efforts into perfecting the X Fold 5. The official announcement is anticipated to be made soon, generating significant excitement among tech enthusiasts.
