Valorant, the acclaimed MOBA game developed by Riot Games, is on the brink of a significant transformation. Since its initial release in 2020, Valorant has continuously expanded its content offerings. It recently made its way to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles, and a mobile version is also in development. Now, the game is set to undergo a substantial graphical overhaul.
Major Technical Upgrade: Unreal Engine 5
In an exciting announcement, Riot Games has revealed that Valorant will transition to the Unreal Engine 5 this July, marking the game’s most significant technical advancement to date. Previously built on Unreal Engine 4, this update coincides with the game’s fifth anniversary. While players may not notice drastic visual changes immediately following the 11.02 update, they can expect a noteworthy boost in performance and a more efficient rollout of future updates.
The Unreal Engine 5 enhancement is set to usher in the Replay system with the 11.06 update, scheduled for September. Initially exclusive to the PC version, this feature will be available only in Competitive mode. Plans are in place to extend the Replay system to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions, as well as additional modes, in the future. This system will offer players a valuable tool to refine their strategies, as well as assist in identifying suspicious behavior and more effectively combating cheating.
