The friendship between US President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual, has come to an abrupt halt. This rift has captured global attention as both parties express their disagreement publicly. The media has been abuzz for days, dissecting the dynamics of this fallout.
In a recent development, Trump disclosed that Musk sought a meeting with him, but he declined. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump stated, “I have far more significant matters to contemplate.” He added, “I wish Tesla well.”
Addressing the financial support Musk’s ventures receive from the government, Trump remarked, “He possesses substantial wealth and receives numerous subsidies. We will address this, ensuring fairness for both the nation and him.”
Earlier this year, Trump purchased a Tesla Model S in response to demonstrations at Tesla dealerships owned by Musk. A White House source mentioned that Trump is considering parting ways with the vehicle. “The red Tesla might be sold or donated,” suggested the White House official.
Musk, who initially responded with swift comments, has now adopted a more subdued approach. The Tesla CEO continues to express his critical views on the X platform he owns. His focus, however, is on the tax and budget bills rather than personal attacks on Trump. Musk often shares others’ posts that align with his viewpoints.
Elon Musk recently proposed forming a new political faction that represents the middle 80% of Americans. A close associate of Musk revealed that the Tesla CEO is contemplating reconciling with Trump.
Musk also deleted a controversial post from his X account that linked President Trump to Jeffrey Epstein, sparking significant reactions on social media and beyond. In the deleted post, Musk alleged, “Trump’s name appears in the Epstein files. This is why the documents remain undisclosed to the public.”
The tension ignited when Musk criticized a budget bill passed by Trump, branding it a “disgusting disgrace.” Musk expressed his frustration, “I can’t tolerate it any longer. This massive, wasteful Congressional spending bill is a disgrace. Shame on those who supported it.”
Trump, while meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the White House, responded to Musk’s critique of the tax cut legislation. He admitted to having “always liked” Musk but was “disappointed” by his recent criticisms. Trump pointed out that the removal of the electric vehicle mandate was unsettling for Musk, stating, “Musk was more familiar with this bill than anyone, yet he caused disruptions.”
Musk retorted to Trump’s remarks, asserting, “If it weren’t for me, Trump would have lost the election. Democrats would control the House and Republicans would be 51 to 49 in the Senate. Such ingratitude.”
In a separate yet related matter, Jeffrey Epstein, charged with sexually exploiting numerous underage girls, was found deceased in his cell at New York’s Manhattan Metropolitan Correctional Center on August 10, 2019.
The disclosed Epstein case files list prominent individuals such as Prince Andrew, former US Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, former US Vice President Al Gore, actor Kevin Spacey, singer Michael Jackson, illusionist David Copperfield, lawyer Alan Dershowitz, and former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson.
Despite the inclusion of Clinton and Trump’s names in the files, no formal charges were filed against the former presidents.
