The highly anticipated conclusion to the Resident Evil trilogy has officially been revealed at the Summer Game Fest 2025. Titled Resident Evil Requiem, this installment is set to complete the narrative arc that began with the groundbreaking Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
Following a swirl of speculation, the existence and progress of Resident Evil 9 were confirmed not long ago. Indeed, the game was subtly hinted at in a trailer celebrating the milestone of Resident Evil 4 surpassing ten million copies sold. Now, fans can rejoice as the game has been officially announced.
The announcement trailer introduces us to Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak. Tasked with investigating a gruesome murder in a hotel, Grace’s mission uncovers a sinister connection to her mother’s demise. As the narrative unfolds, Grace finds herself trapped and immobilized on a hospital gurney, setting the stage for a chilling adventure.
The trailer hints at a return to Raccoon City, with glimpses of a massive crater and the remains of the iconic R.P.D. building. While various monstrous entities make their appearance, the beloved character Leon Scott Kennedy is notably absent. However, Capcom is known for reserving big character reveals for subsequent trailers, leaving fans hopeful for Leon’s eventual return.

Scheduled for release on February 27, 2026, Resident Evil Requiem will be accessible on PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. Fans eager to get a firsthand experience can look forward to its playable demo at GamesCom 2025.
