Nintendo has become synonymous with intriguing and often high-profile legal battles within the gaming industry. Known for its vigilant protection of copyrights, the company is now targeting a particular name that was involved in one of the largest leaks in its history. Allegedly, this pursuit has led Nintendo to exert pressure on the popular communication platform, Discord.
Approximately six months ago, a significant breach occurred, revealing decades worth of Pokémon designs and related documents. This leak was attributed to a Discord user operating under the pseudonym “GameFreakOUT”. According to reports by Polygon, Nintendo is intent on uncovering the true identity of this individual.
Nintendo has taken legal action by filing a DMCA request in a California court, in which they demand access to all personal information associated with this user. The allegations suggest that the individual illicitly gained access to Game Freak’s servers, thereby obtaining sensitive documents that date back to 1997.
