Apple is gearing up to unveil its latest innovation, the iPhone 17 series, next September. Among the lineup, the “iPhone 17 Air” is set to capture attention with its ultra-slim design, raising questions about its battery endurance.
Internal evaluations by Apple suggest that the iPhone 17 Air will cater to only 60 to 70 percent of users on a single charge per day. In contrast, previous models boasted a range of 80 to 90 percent. The primary reason for this reduced battery performance is its remarkable thickness of just 5.5 millimetres, making it the thinnest iPhone in Apple’s history.
While the impressive design choice allows for a sleeker profile, it necessitates a smaller battery. To mitigate this, Apple is developing a special case designed to extend battery life. Historically, Apple has provided official battery cases for the iPhone 11 lineup and a MagSafe battery pack for the iPhone 12 series, although the latter was eventually discontinued.
The iPhone 17 Air is also streamlined in terms of hardware. It will feature a single rear camera and one speaker. Notably, it will be the first model to completely eliminate the physical SIM card slot globally, relying entirely on eSIM technology.
Apple’s manufacturing partners are cautiously optimistic about the market’s reception to this bold new model. While demand predictions remain uncertain, supply chain insiders reveal that only 10 percent of production capacity is allocated for the iPhone 17 Air. Its thin structure promises a unique user experience, but potential buyers might be swayed by the limitations in battery life.
