Over two million enthusiastic fans gathered at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on a memorable Saturday night, witnessing the grandest concert of Lady Gaga’s illustrious career so far. This spectacular event was open to the public without charge, allowing fans to experience the electrifying performance of the Mother Monster.
The concert commenced at approximately 10:10 pm local time, with Lady Gaga captivating the audience with her 2011 hit song “Bloody Mary.” The atmosphere was electric as fans, packed shoulder to shoulder on the expansive beach, sang and danced exuberantly.
Throughout the night, Lady Gaga thrilled the audience with her iconic hits, including “Poker Face” and “Alejandro.” She dazzled in a variety of outfits, notably one showcasing the vibrant colors of the Brazilian flag.
Following in Madonna’s footsteps, who transformed Copacabana Beach into a massive dance floor the previous year, Lady Gaga’s performance is part of a concerted effort by Rio’s City Hall. These large-scale events aim to stimulate economic activity in the city, complementing the Carnival, New Year’s Eve celebrations, and the upcoming Saint John’s Day festivities in June.
According to a recent report from Rio’s City Hall, the concert was expected to draw around 1.6 million attendees and inject at least 600 million reais (approximately €93.8 million) into Rio’s local economy. Similar grand concerts are planned to occur annually every May through 2028.
