BMS Group, a leading independent specialist in the insurance and reinsurance brokerage industry, has announced the appointment of Jean-Jacques Henchoz as Chairman of the Board, commencing on May 1st, 2025. This strategic appointment comes after Henchoz’s recent departure from his role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hannover Re, a major European reinsurer.
Henchoz’s illustrious career spans 27 years in the global reinsurance sector. During his tenure as Chairman and CEO of Hannover Re, starting in 2019, he successfully propelled the company to achieve double-digit earnings growth and a robust return on equity (ROE). This remarkable performance culminated in the doubling of Hannover Re’s market capitalization and its inclusion in Germany’s prestigious DAX-Index.
Before joining Hannover Re, Henchoz dedicated over two decades to Swiss Re, another prominent European reinsurer, where he held various leadership roles. His last position there was as CEO of Reinsurance and Regional President for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Currently, Henchoz also contributes his expertise as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of Brit Group Holdings Limited and its Lloyd’s managing agent, Brit Syndicates Limited.
This appointment marks a significant milestone for BMS, following a period of robust growth characterized by several key acquisitions in the past year. Notably, BMS acquired the UK-domiciled broker, David Roberts & Partners in December 2024. Earlier in the year, the acquisition of specialist UAE broker Berns Brett Masaood was completed.
