On April 8, author Jillian Lauren, who is married to Scott Shriner, the bass guitarist of the renowned US rock band Weezer, was involved in a shooting incident with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). This occurrence captured international attention after the release of security and body camera footage.

In response to public outcry, the LAPD issued a statement and provided video evidence to clarify the circumstances. According to the police statement, officers patrolling the area were searching for three suspects linked to a reported hit-and-run incident that night. While on patrol, they encountered Jillian Lauren in her backyard holding a handgun.

Officers repeatedly instructed Lauren to “drop the gun,” yet she allegedly disregarded these commands, reportedly cocking the weapon and aiming it at the officers.
