Huawei is on the brink of launching its Pura 80 series in China, and anticipation is building with teasers showcasing its groundbreaking imaging system. Huawei, renowned for pushing the envelope in mobile photography, hints at a periscope telephoto lens that could redefine industry standards.
Set to debut on June 11, the Pura 80 series is stealing the spotlight with two engaging teaser videos on Huawei’s official Weibo channel. The first video chronicles the evolution of Huawei’s XMAGE imaging technology from the P9 to the Mate series, culminating in an exciting preview of the Pura 80’s advanced camera capabilities.
The second teaser delves into the phone’s multifocal length system, highlighting optical zoom capabilities of 2x (48mm) and 3.7x (89mm), as well as hybrid zoom extending to 10x (240mm) and an impressive 20x. This suggests an enhanced periscope telephoto camera, rumored to feature a 50MP 1/1.28-inch sensor, promising sharp details in distant subjects and macro photography.
Speculation suggests that the Pura 80 Pro and Ultra models will boast a 1-inch main sensor with a variable aperture and an RYYB color filter for superior low-light performance. This main sensor is likely to be paired with a 50 MP ultra-wide lens. The anticipated dual periscope setup could offer enhanced zoom capabilities, reminiscent of the design last seen on the P40 Pro+.
Moreover, the series will operate on HarmonyOS 5 and is expected to include four models: Pura 80, Pro, Pro+, and Ultra. The Ultra model is anticipated to feature a dedicated SmartSens 1-inch LOFIC CMOS sensor, designed for improved dynamic range.
