The anticipation for Honor’s upcoming clamshell foldable phone, the Magic V2 Flip, is building up rapidly. Expected to launch in August, this device has already cleared the certification hurdles in China, paving the way for its grand debut.
The Magic V2 Flip recently appeared on the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT) and 3C platforms. Notably, it boasts a 5,370 mAh battery, potentially the largest seen in clamshell foldables to date. The certification documents reveal the model number as CLE-AN00 and confirm support for 80W fast charging. However, based on patterns from previous Honor models, the practical charging might be capped at 66W, which still places it competitively ahead of its peers.
The Magic V2 Flip promises a premium user experience with its 6.8-inch foldable OLED display featuring LTPO technology and Full HD+ resolution. Complementing this is a 4-inch external screen for quick interactions. While a Snapdragon 8 series chip is expected to power the device, it might not feature the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite. Instead, alternatives like the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 could be on the table, ensuring robust performance.
The camera setup is equally impressive, led by a 50-megapixel main camera equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 1/1.5-inch sensor. This setup promises to enhance photo and video quality, setting a high bar for competitors.
In a market segment where devices like the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 dominate, the Magic V2 Flip aims to carve its niche. With its focus on critical daily use aspects like battery life and charging efficiency, Honor is poised to make a significant impact.
