The company is reportedly crafting two innovative Wear OS smartwatch models, tentatively named the Rubber 1 and Rubber 1S, with a particular focus on younger users. Both models are anticipated to cater specifically to children, offering features that stand out in the market.
The Rubber 1 model is particularly noteworthy due to its built-in 2-megapixel camera, which could be a pioneering feature for Wear OS devices. Designed with a 1.85-inch OLED display and a robust 400 mAh battery, it supports wireless charging via USB-C. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi, and NFC, complemented by a 5 ATM water resistance certification. This smartwatch also facilitates the tracking of essential health metrics such as heart rate, oxygen levels, and steps, potentially positioning it as a competitor to child-centric devices like the JrTrack 4, especially with its strategic camera placement.
The Rubber 1S model offers a more compact design, featuring a 1.05-inch screen and a 290 mAh battery. Although it lacks NFC, it maintains Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity alongside health tracking and water resistance capabilities. These features ensure it remains a viable option for health-conscious younger users.
Both of these watches will reportedly operate on the Wear OS platform. This integration suggests the potential for enhanced parental controls and applications tailored for children, similar to the child-friendly features seen in the Galaxy Watch for Kids. HMD’s previous collaboration with Xplora, a specialist in children’s watches, lends credibility to these expectations.
