At the I/O 2025 event, Google launched the much-anticipated Imagen 4, marking a significant advancement in AI-driven visual creation. This new iteration surpasses its predecessor, Imagen 3, by delivering images of notably higher quality and detail. Capable of generating visuals up to 2K resolution, Imagen 4 offers both realistic and abstract styles to cater to diverse artistic needs.
Google highlights that Imagen 4 excels at rendering intricate details, including fabric textures, water droplets, and animal fur, which contribute to the overall image quality. Josh Woodward, head of Google’s Labs unit, emphasized that Imagen 4 is a substantial improvement with a particular emphasis on text and typography reproduction. This enhancement makes it an ideal tool for creating slides, invitations, or any content that integrates text with imagery.
While the market is replete with powerful AI visual tools like Midjourney v7 and OpenAI’s DALL-E, Imagen 4 distinguishes itself with its speed. Google has announced that Imagen 4 operates faster than its previous version, with plans to release an even quicker variant that promises to be up to 10 times faster.
Starting today, Imagen 4 is available in Google’s Gemini app, Whisk, and Vertex AI platforms. It also integrates seamlessly with Google Workspace products such as Slides, Vids, and Docs, allowing users to incorporate visual creation directly into their workflows.
