Introducing Starfish Neuroscience’s Revolutionary Brain Chip

Starfish Neuroscience, founded by Gabe Newell in 2019, is set to unveil a groundbreaking brain chip later this year. This innovation comes after six years of dedicated research and development. The chip, compact yet powerful with dimensions of 2 x 4, features 32 electrode points designed for optimal efficiency.

Key Features of the Brain Chip

The chip is unique in that it is less diffusive, boasts a battery-free design, and can interact with multiple regions of the brain simultaneously. Starfish Neuroscience aims to revolutionize brain activity monitoring and stimulation, providing a dual capability that is not yet fully realized in current technology.

Of the 32 electrodes, up to 16 can record brain activity concurrently. The chip is ingeniously designed to operate wirelessly, drawing power without the need for a battery, consuming a mere 1.1 milliwatts of power. Such innovation ensures it is not restricted to a single brain region, allowing for broader application.

Potential Applications in Neurology

Starfish Neuroscience highlights the significance of addressing neurological diseases caused by disconnections between brain regions. By recording and stimulating multiple points simultaneously, the chip holds promise for conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, offering new hopes in treatment.

Aside from the brain chip, Starfish Neuroscience is also pioneering a hyperthermia device aimed at eradicating brain tumors and a TMS system to combat bipolar disorders.
