Forza Motorsport has faced significant criticism regarding its AI-controlled vehicles. Issues like unnecessary braking, awkward transitions, unrealistic adherence to racing lines, and sudden crashes have been common complaints. To address these, developer Turn 10 Studios has rolled out multiple updates to the game’s AI system in recent months, with Update 20 on the horizon.
Turn 10 Studios is introducing a groundbreaking multi-lane system for Drivatar AI training, aiming to make racing with AI more realistic and immersive. Previously, the development team conducted simulations over thousands of laps per track and vehicle to create a customized racing line that was optimized for speed. However, this method sometimes resulted in AI vehicles veering off the track during heavy traffic, causing crashes and other unrealistic behaviors.
The new multi-lane AI system allows the AI to be trained across multiple lanes. This enhancement makes the AI more aware of its surroundings, improving its ability to overtake or avoid collisions. With this update, Turn 10 Studios aims to deliver more engaging and authentic single-player racing experiences. The AI will become faster and more competitive, capable of overtaking players and outmaneuvering other AI opponents without leaving the track.
The revamped Drivatar AI system is set to debut with the anniversary update later this month. Additionally, fans can look forward to the return of the beloved Fujimi Kaido track, adding another layer of excitement to the game.
