Mozilla has unveiled Firefox 138.0, introducing several notable enhancements including a profile manager, refined Windows 11 design elements, address bar enhancements, and more.
Profile Management: The standout feature of Firefox 138 is the new profile management system. This allows users to organize their browsing activities into distinct profiles, such as work, study, or personal. Each profile maintains its own bookmarks, passwords, and browsing history, ensuring privacy and organization.
Windows 11 Design Integration: For Windows 11 users, Firefox has incorporated acrylic-style details into pop-up windows, enhancing visual consistency with the operating system’s design language.
Improved Address Bar: Users in the US can now receive weather suggestions directly from the address bar. Simply type in a weather-related term or city name to view relevant information instantly.
Cross-Platform Enhancements: On macOS and Linux, users can now copy links from background tabs using the tab strip’s context menu.
Security and Autofill Enhancements: This release includes various security patches. The address and credit card autofill functionality has been refined to better handle forms that dynamically update, ensuring accuracy even for fields that appear after selecting a country.
User Interface Adjustments: Previous color settings have been updated to align with Contrast Control settings, enhancing usability and accessibility.
Note: There is an existing issue with importing passwords from Chrome. As a temporary solution, users can export passwords to a CSV file and then import these into Firefox.
To update Firefox, navigate to Menu > Help > About Firefox, visit the official website, or use the Microsoft Store.
