Electronic Arts has officially declared that the extensive introduction of the eagerly anticipated new Battlefield installment will occur this summer. Following the release of Battlefield 2042 in 2021, which faced substantial criticism, the franchise is aiming for a resurgence. EA also confirmed that the game is slated for release before the closure of the fiscal year 2026, which ends in April 2026.
EA’s CEO, Andrew Wilson, has assured in a statement during the company’s fiscal year 2025 Q4 report that the new Battlefield game will be unveiled in the summer. This introduction is anticipated to be part of the Summer Game Fest 2025. Previously, Wilson hinted at a potential delay in Battlefield’s release, attributed to the competition with GTA 6’s launch during the same timeframe. However, with Rockstar Games pushing back GTA 6’s release to 26 May 2026, EA seems committed to its own schedule. Consequently, the game is expected to reach fans before the end of the company’s 2025 fiscal year, concluding in April 2026.
Meanwhile, some gameplay footage has emerged from closed tests conducted since March. These leaks suggest that the series will stay loyal to the modern warfare theme and that certain controversial design choices from Battlefield 2042 have been reconsidered. Notably, the return of the traditional class system and more compact, mission-focused maps is expected. Additionally, EA plans to broaden testing in May, offering access to more players across Europe, North America, and selected regions in Asia.
