Renowned for its groundbreaking video games, CD Projekt RED is steering the gaming industry with its ongoing projects such as The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2. Despite these new developments, the studio remains committed to enhancing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, originally released in 2015. Following a significant update for new-generation consoles in recent years, the game is set to receive mod support on Xbox Series and PS5.
Mod Support Scheduled for Xbox Series and PS5
In celebration of The Witcher 3’s 10th Anniversary, CD Projekt RED has announced an update that will introduce third-party mod support for users of Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5. This update is expected to roll out in the coming months. Gamers will be required to possess a CD Projekt RED account and link it to their mod.io membership to access these mods.
With the new mod support, console players will gain access to the same diverse and intriguing mods that have been popular on the PC platform. CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the mod support will extend to mods crafted without the official REDkit mod tools, provided they adhere to the Fan Content Guidelines and the CD Projekt RED User Agreement.
It is important to note that this enhancement will be exclusive to next-gen consoles. Consequently, players utilizing PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch will not be able to access this update. The exact release date for this update, which promises to enrich the gaming experience with mod support, is yet to be announced.
