Jeff Pu has predicted that the upcoming iPhone 17 base model will feature the same Apple A18 processor found in its predecessor, the iPhone 16. This processor will be produced using TSMC’s advanced second-generation 3nm process, known as N3E.
Key Specifications for the iPhone 17
The base model of the iPhone 17 is expected to boast 8GB of RAM alongside the A18 processor. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air, recognized for its ultra-slim design, is anticipated to be equipped with the new A19 chip. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models will reportedly feature the A19 Pro chip, both manufactured with TSMC’s cutting-edge third-generation 3nm process, labeled as N3P.
According to Pu, the memory configuration for the iPhone 17 will remain at 8GB, similar to the iPhone 16. Initially, Pu speculated that the entire iPhone 17 lineup would utilize the A19 chips, differentiating primarily through RAM. He suggested that the base and Air models would have 8GB of RAM, whereas the Pro and Pro Max would increase to 12GB. However, the latest insights reveal that while the iPhone 17 retains 8GB of RAM, the iPhone 17 Air will now match the Pro models with 12GB of RAM.
Design-wise, the iPhone 17 is expected to closely resemble the iPhone 16. However, Apple is rumored to discontinue the 60 Hz display, enhance the front camera from 12 megapixels to 24 megapixels, and slightly enlarge the screen from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches.
