Xiaomi has launched the Smart Door Lock 2 Enhanced Edition, a cutting-edge smart lock equipped with vein recognition technology. Priced at $235, this innovative product is now available for pre-order and is set to hit the market on June 10.
Key Features of the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 Enhanced Edition
This new model boasts advanced vein recognition capabilities, utilizing infrared light to scan and identify finger vein patterns. This feature provides a more reliable unlocking method for individuals with worn fingerprints or specific skin conditions. It is particularly beneficial for the elderly and children who often encounter fingerprint recognition issues.
The smart lock employs an AI-powered algorithm that enhances recognition accuracy through adaptive learning. According to Xiaomi, this system can identify users in under a second, with a false recognition rate of less than 0.0001 percent.
The lock supports a comprehensive 10 unlocking methods, including AI vein recognition, AI fingerprint recognition, permanent passwords, one-time passwords, periodic passwords, smartphone unlocking via Bluetooth, mechanical keys, NFC cards, and integration with Xiaomi smart devices like phones, smartwatches, and smart bands.
Additional Features and Specifications
The internal unit of the lock features a smart peephole equipped with a 2 MP sensor. This peephole utilizes an AI algorithm to detect individuals at the door and can record video during suspicious activities. It also supports infrared night vision and full-color recording in low light conditions. A display allows users to view real-time activity at the door.
The lock mechanism is fully automatic, ensuring smooth and silent operation. It locks automatically upon closing and unlocks seamlessly following successful recognition. Xiaomi highlights the use of a Class C mechanical lock cylinder, designed to resist forced entry and electromagnetic interference.
Powered by a 5000 mAh lithium battery, the lock has an approximate lifespan of four months. Additionally, it can operate for an extra six months using four AA batteries as a backup. In emergencies where both power sources are depleted, users can charge the lock via its USB-C port.
Integration with the Mi Home ecosystem via Wi-Fi allows for remote monitoring of the lock’s status and alerts for tampering through the Mi Home app. The system can connect with Xiaomi TVs and other smart home hubs, enabling users to create personalized automation scenarios using Xiaomi’s HyperOS system.
Notably, Xiaomi has ensured the product’s durability, indicating it has passed 150,000 open-close tests and can withstand temperatures ranging from -10°C to 55°C.
