The inaugural test firing, featuring the TEBER-83 guidance kit, marked a significant advancement in the capabilities of the Bayraktar AKINCI, an advanced unmanned aerial vehicle developed by Baykar. During the test, the system successfully struck its target with remarkable precision.
Developed by ROKETSAN, the TEBER-83 is a state-of-the-art guidance system engineered to transform MK-83 class general-purpose bombs, each weighing around 450 kg, into precision-guided munitions. This technology enables conventional bombs to achieve high-precision targeting, thus significantly enhancing their effectiveness against both stationary and moving targets.
The TEBER-83 system specifically adapts MK-83 class bombs, which are 1,000 lb (approximately 454 kg) in weight, into smart munitions. Its variants, TEBER-81 and TEBER-82, are similarly designed for MK-81 (250 lb) and MK-82 (500 lb) bombs, respectively. While all three guidance kits employ similar sophisticated targeting technologies, they differ in terms of the bombs’ weight, operational range, and compatible platforms.
With the integration of the TEBER-83 kit, weapons such as MK-83 class bombs become capable of effectively neutralizing heavy armored vehicles, tanks, fortified bunkers, protected structures, and naval vessels. As a result, the combat effectiveness and operational versatility of the AKINCI UCAV will be substantially enhanced.
