Tails, the renowned privacy-centric operating system, has unveiled its latest version, Tails 6.15. This update includes Tor Browser 14.5.1 and Linux kernel 6.1.135, focusing on heightened security and improved performance.
Tails is a portable Linux-based OS that can be installed on a USB drive. This installation enables you to boot it on any computer that supports USB booting, providing a highly secure environment for internet surfing via the Tor Browser. All network traffic from applications is routed through Tor, ensuring privacy and security.
The primary motivation for the swift release of Tails 6.15 is the update of the Tor Browser, which now includes security enhancements from Firefox 138. As security experts suggest, attackers may target Tails users by exploiting vulnerabilities in outdated versions of the Tor Browser. Therefore, it’s crucial to update before using Tails.
The Broadcom BCM4301 and BCM4306 chipsets have been excluded to resolve compilation issues. Users running Tails 6.0 or later can upgrade to the new version. Once connected to the internet, a notification will alert you to check for the latest version.
