Samsung is preparing to launch the One UI 8 Watch update, bypassing the previous One UI 7 iteration for its Galaxy Watch series. This update promises a slew of new features and enhancements that aim to improve user experience.
The upcoming update introduces a brand new app called Shortcuts, which allows users to conveniently add app shortcuts directly to their Galaxy Watch’s home screen. This addition was identified through a detailed analysis of the One UI 8 Watch’s code.
Another exciting feature is the Now Bar and Now Brief. These features, which were previously introduced with One UI 7.0 on Galaxy phones and tablets, will now make their debut on Galaxy Watches. Users will have the flexibility to select between a minimal or comprehensive version of the Now Bar. The minimal version displays only the icon of the current activity, while the comprehensive version includes both the app icon and related text when the screen is active.
Moreover, One UI 8 Watch will revamp the interface with new app icons that align with the icon designs from One UI 7 on Galaxy smartphones. The Now Bar can be accessed through a simple two-finger pinch gesture, offering an intuitive way to manage ongoing activities.
In a notable shift, the update will replace the Google Assistant with Samsung’s own Gemini AI, providing a fresh approach to voice interactions. Additionally, users can look forward to a suite of new system sounds, further enhancing the auditory experience of the Galaxy Watch.
The One UI 8 Watch update is anticipated to roll out later this year, promising significant improvements and fresh functionalities for Samsung smartwatch users.
