In a recent interview with The Game Business, Sam Lake shed light on the exciting projects he is currently involved in and shared his aspirations for future endeavors. Known for his creative genius, Lake revealed his interest in exploring a unique series outside of Remedy’s well-known roster.
When asked about a dream project, Lake expressed a desire to develop a game based on the beloved Moomins series. Created by Finnish author Tove Jansson, the Moomins are cherished characters known for their whimsical adventures and distinctive appearance, characterized by their white skin, chubby and furry bodies, and prominent noses. The Moomins universe is so adored that it inspired the creation of themed amusement parks in both Finland and Japan.
Currently, Lake is deeply immersed in multiple projects at Remedy Entertainment. Among these are FBC Firebreak, Control 2, and the remakes of Max Payne 1 and Max Payne 2. Notably, Lake is at the helm of an unannounced project, where he takes on the role of director, showcasing his continued passion and creativity in game development.
During the interview, Lake humorously addressed his recent Lifetime Achievement Award, expressing, “I actually felt like… are you trying to imply something to me? Am I done? Is my peak moment behind me? You’re telling me to get off my ass. But no, I still have plenty of passion and ideas.” His statement underscores his unwavering dedication and eagerness to push creative boundaries.
