In a recent escalation of tensions, a spokesperson for the Pakistani army reported that India executed missile attacks on Pakistani soil, targeting three distinct areas.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistan Army, confirmed the missile strikes on Bahawalpur, Muzaffarabad, and Kotli districts. “All our jets are in the air,” he stated, denouncing the attacks as “shameful and cowardly” acts from within India’s airspace. He strongly asserted, “Pakistan will respond to this provocation at a time and place of its own choosing. Such actions will not go unanswered.” Initial reports indicate that at least three civilians were killed and twelve others wounded during these assaults.
India has declared the launch of Operation Sindoor in retaliation for a recent terrorist attack in the Jammu and Kashmir region. The Indian government stated that nine locations were targeted, emphasizing that no Pakistani military installations were involved. “Our operations were focused, measured, and non-confrontational,” noted the Indian authorities.
The situation intensified following a tragic assault in Kashmir that claimed the lives of 26 Indian tourists. This incident has driven relations between the nuclear-armed neighbors to their lowest point in recent years.
While sporadic border skirmishes continue to occur, both nations have mutually closed their airspace, further straining diplomatic relations.
