Nick Weiler-Babb of Bayern Munich has been awarded the title of the best defensive player for the 2024-2025 season in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, an accolade that highlights his outstanding defensive prowess.
According to the official website of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Weiler-Babb, aged 29, edged out formidable competitors such as Walter Tavares (Real Madrid), Alpha Diallo (AS Monaco), Jerian Grant (Panathinaikos AKTOR), and Thomas Walkup (Olympiacos) through a voting process involving the head coaches of the participating teams.
Achieving this honor for the first time in his career, Weiler-Babb recorded an impressive average of 8.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5 assists over 33 games this season in the EuroLeague.
Historically, the Best Defender Award has seen dominance by Dimitris Diamantidis of Panathinaikos, who has been a six-time recipient, setting a high benchmark for defensive excellence in the league.
This season, the Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Award was claimed by Kendrick Nunn of Panathinaikos AKTOR. Simultaneously, Nadir Hifi from Paris Basketball was recognized as the Rising Star of the tournament, selected by the head coaches for his exceptional performance.
The upcoming days will reveal more honorees, including the recipient of the Alexander Gomelskiy Coach of the Year Award, the best five players of the season, and the prestigious MVP title.
