In a surprising turn of events, Kanye West, also known as Ye, made a brief appearance on Twitch, lasting just seven minutes before being banned for violating the platform’s guidelines. During the short-lived broadcast, the rapper made antisemitic and homophobic remarks, leading to an immediate suspension.
West, reportedly streaming from a motel in Los Angeles, donned dark sunglasses and a black jacket. His comments targeted Jews, the LGBTQ+ community, and his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. The stream was abruptly halted by Twitch after West performed a Nazi salute, exclaiming “Heil Hitler”, which violated the platform’s rules.
The Amazon-owned platform swiftly issued a temporary ban on the channel, citing the breach of community standards. Despite the quick removal, clips of the broadcast circulated rapidly across social media platforms.
In addition to the controversy, Kanye West is recognized as the wealthiest artist globally, with a fortune surpassing the GDP of several countries. During the stream, West mentioned his interaction with Elon Musk, claiming that Musk had “privileged” him, alluding to the reinstatement of his account on the X platform in 2022.
Last month, West appeared alongside Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes in a video, wearing a swastika-engraved necklace adorned with diamonds. This incident follows a 2022 dinner with then-US President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago, which also drew significant criticism.
