Instagram’s Latest Feature: Speed Up Reels Playback

Instagram has once again drawn inspiration from TikTok, this time by allowing users to accelerate the playback of reels videos. The new functionality enables users to watch reels at twice their normal speed by long-pressing on either the right or left side of the video screen.

Enhanced Viewing: Double Speed for Instagram Reels Initially, Instagram restricted reels videos to a maximum of 15 seconds. However, over time, this limit has been increased to three minutes, providing users with a more extensive canvas for creativity. Now, with the newly introduced feature, users can swiftly view reels up to 3 minutes long at 2x speed.

Steps to Speed Up Instagram Reels:

• Open the Instagram app.
• Select a reels video to watch.
• For acceleration, long press on the right or left side of the screen.
• The reels video will now play at double speed.

Instagram’s Reels, which closely mimic TikTok’s format, continue to evolve by incorporating popular features from its competitor. Beyond this new speed-up option, Instagram has previously introduced tools like the Remix feature, which is reminiscent of TikTok’s Duet functionality.
