Unico Sigorta Chose Stability: General Assembly Decisions and New Appointments

Unico Sigorta held its general assembly meeting for 2022. Unico Sigorta continues to grow stronger with the General Assembly decisions and the appointment of three new directors.

At the meeting, which was held with the participation of all shareholders and board members, the terms of office of the members of the Board of Directors were renewed for 3 years, and the current Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jan Nahum, was re-elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Unico Sigorta.

Among the general assembly resolutions shaping the future of Unico Sigorta in line with the company's vision, the board of directors decided that the entire after-tax profit for the accounting period completed as of December 31, 2022 will be added to the capital and will be monitored in the 2022 profit accounts and no dividend will be distributed for the relevant period. With this decision, Unico Sigorta's financial strength was further consolidated, creating a strong foundation for growth and success.

Following the general assembly, the contract of Unico Sigorta General Manager Ender Güzeler, whose contract will expire in 2024, was extended until the end of 2029 in order to ensure the stability of the business plan and strengthen confidence in the management.

New Appointments at Unico Sigorta

Continuing to strengthen the company organization, Unico Sigorta appointed Birol Balık as Strategy and Business Development Director and Reyhan Topçu Turan as Finance Director on August 1, while Raşit Özuren was appointed as Auto Damage, Logistics and Customer Center of Excellence Director. Raşit Özuren will take office on September 4.

About Birol Balık

Birol Balık holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Erciyes University and a Master's Degree in Marketing from Wales Institute Cardiff University. Mr. Balık started his insurance career as an MT in Eureko Sigorta Bancassurance department in 2008. After serving in managerial roles in various departments at Eureko Sigorta between 2011 and 2018, he worked as International Project Manager in the "Future of Claims" project at Archema International Netherlands.

Between 2019 and 2020, Birol Balık assumed the role of Business Development Manager at Eureko Sigorta and lastly served as Director of Auto and Non-Auto Insurance and Reinsurance at Ana Sigorta.

As of August, Birol Balık continues his career as Strategy and Business Development Director at Unico Insurance.

About Reyhan Topçu Turan

Reyhan Topçu Turan graduated from Anadolu University, Department of Business Administration and started her career at AXA Insurance in 1998 in the Claims and Reinsurance department. In the following years, she worked as a manager and director in PBR and Accounting departments at Sompo Sigorta and Koru Sigorta for many years.

Since the beginning of 2023, Topçu Turan has been working as Financial Affairs Consultant at Unico Sigorta and as of August 1, he has been appointed as Financial Affairs Director responsible for Tax, PBR and Accounting.

About Raşit Özuren

Raşit Özuren holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University and a Master's degree from Marmara University, Institute of Banking and Insurance. He previously worked at Garanti Insurance, Garanti Pension and Life, Sompo Insurance and Groupama Insurance.

As of September 4, Özuren will assume the position of Director responsible for Auto Damage, Logistics and Customer Center of Excellence at Unico Sigorta.
