A first in Turkey: Online Insurance Museum

With a history of nearly 200 years, the Turkish insurance industry now has a museum: www.sigortamuzesi.com.tr. The project realized by Sertem Demir, General Manager of Arex Sigorta, includes old insurance documents, policies, fire marks, insurance maps, old insurance advertisements and objects. The online museum, which includes Sertem Demir's collection of 600 pieces as well as Integra's fire mark collection, is open to everyone in Turkish and English. Negotiations are underway with different insurance companies to include their collections in the museum, and it is planned that these collections will take their place in the online museum in turn. The museum also has an Instagram account.

Sertem Demir, the owner of the project, says that she has been collecting insurance artifacts for 20 years and finally decided to establish a virtual platform: "I have been finding and writing the stories of the artifacts for a while; because the exhibition of antique visuals without a story does not attract outsiders with an amateur eye. For now, my collection and Integra's fire mark collection are on the website. We are also creating an instagram account. I got a promise from the general manager of another big company to have its antique collection on the site soon. So the Insurance Museum will change and develop over time. I hope all visitors will enjoy it."
