Fundacıón Mapfre Officials Met with Earthquake Victims in Hatay Samandağ

Fundación MAPFRE, which continues to carry out support activities for disaster victims affected by the earthquake disaster in Turkey in February, in cooperation with IBB (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality) Istanbul Foundation, visited families living in 25 containers built in the Samandağ district of Hatay, one of the regions most affected by the disaster.

Fundación MAPFRE, which carries out social responsibility projects in Turkey in cooperation with MAPFRE Insurance, continues its support activities for disaster victims affected by the earthquake disaster in February. Within the scope of these activities, MAPFRE Sigorta General Manager Erdinç Yurtseven, one of the spokespersons of MAPFRE Fundación, as well as MAPFRE Sigorta Sales Marketing Assistant General Manager and Executive Committee Member Yıldırım Türe and IBB Istanbul Foundation President Perihan Yücel met with our earthquake-affected citizens in Hatay Samandağ.

Fundación MAPFRE provided heated container houses for the shelter needs of citizens who lost their homes after the earthquake disaster in Turkey, which also affected neighboring provinces, especially Kahramanmaraş. During the visit to the living space created in Hatay Samandağ, Fundación MAPFRE volunteers together with senior executives of MAPFRE Insurance and IBB Istanbul Foundation had the opportunity to get to know 25 families living in containers closely, while hygiene packages and air fans, which were organized to meet the annual needs of the families considering the hot weather conditions and basic needs in the region, were also shared with the families.

Wishing God's mercy to those who lost their lives in the February 6 earthquake and condolences to their relatives, MAPFRE Sigorta General Manager Erdinç Yurtseven said, "It is hopeful that the container houses delivered to our families in need, with the land arranged, infrastructure and heating system ready, will heal the wounds and be a step towards recovery. Together with our foundation Fundación MAPFRE, we continue our relief efforts in Turkey as we do all over the world. I would like to thank IBB Istanbul Foundation, with which we cooperate during our container area and our aid activities in earthquake zones, for their support. We will continue to follow the needs and the situation of our families in this area we have created for our earthquake victims in Samandağ, and we will continue our support efforts."

Support activities were carried out since the first day of the earthquake

Immediately after the February 6 earthquake, Fundación MAPFRE started relief efforts for the affected regions and sent blankets and sleeping bags to the disaster areas to help meet basic needs. Fundación MAPFRE also organized a worldwide micro-donation campaign in response to the earthquake disaster and created a fund for the earthquake victims by donating the same amount for every donation made.

In addition, since the first day of the earthquake, MAPFRE Sigorta employees, as Fundación MAPFRE volunteers, continue to support the delivery of supplies to the earthquake zones.
