Following the debut of Apple’s Vision Pro headset at an eye-popping $3,500, the tech community has been buzzing with expectations for a more accessible successor. The Vision Pro 2 is already making headlines with leaked images and details that hint at a promising redesign and potentially a new moniker.
The latest leaks showcase components such as the Vision Pro 2’s charging cable and its battery connection system. A braided cable is visible, designed to link the headset to an external power source. Notably, the connectors on each end of this cable appear to be simplified, showcasing metal rings and an eight-pin configuration, in contrast to the current model’s twelve-pin setup.
In addition to these hardware insights, the leaks also affirm speculation about the materials that will be utilized in the Vision Pro 2. Apple seems poised to improve the ergonomics of the device by incorporating lighter materials like titanium. This shift is expected to enhance both comfort and portability, addressing criticisms of the first model, which weighs in at 600 grams.
Speculation is also rife regarding a potential name change. It is rumored that the second generation might be branded as “Vision Air”, aligning with Apple’s tradition of using the “Air” label for lighter and more affordable versions, as seen in their MacBook and iPad line-ups. This could very well be a strategic move to broaden the headset’s market appeal.
The Apple Vision Pro 2 is anticipated to be unveiled in June 2025 at the annual WWDC event. As we inch closer to the launch date, more leaks and information are expected to surface. Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly planning to conclude the production of the current Vision Pro model by year-end, shifting focus to the new models.
